0-5k in just twelve weeks!
Our beginner’s course is suitable for all (aged 18 or over) and is aimed at people with little or no running experience or those returning to running. At the end of the 12 week course, we have our very own graduation ceremony at Bromley Park Run on a Saturday morning. This is a very friendly and supportive group which embraces the Zero to Hero ethos of an inclusive community where everyone is welcome. All we need from you is your enthusiasm and commitment throughout the 12 weeks. Sessions will include a warm up, running practice and post run stretches to help avoid injury.
Our next course starts on… wait for it…….. Wednesday 11th September, 10am
I’ve never run before, can I really take part?
Absolutely! In fact, complete beginners are what this course is all about….we start off so very gradually, you hardly notice that you are running more and more each week. Just complete the ‘homework’ we give you twice or more in the week and you will be amazed at the progress you make.
We’ve had many, many runners start with us who have never run before in their lives. Busy mums, people in their seventies, profoundly deaf runners and two ladies recovering from strokes. But please do see a doctor before starting the course if you feel a medical opinion is needed to begin. And be sure to let us know of any pre-existing medical problems.
I’m so unfit! Will I cope?
Where is it?

SOME OF OUR
Testimonials
In the first week of the course I found guidance and a lot of support from the leaders. Over the last few months I have made a lot of new friends both with other wannabe runners and all the instructors. I have now completed a couple of park runs but don’t yet believe I have built up the stamina I want, so in January I am just going to start all over again. If you want to start, but are nervous, just come for the first week and see how friendly and welcoming everyone is, I’m sure you’ll be back.“

“I cant believe that over 9 weeks I was able to complete a 5k run from getting out of breath running for 60 seconds! This course has been fantastic, the support and encouragement from the coaches has been unbelievable… and now I’m a run leader myself!“

I signed up for the Beginners course in January 2018 with the aim of getting some fitness back and to meet some local people as I was relatively new to the area. I was a lapsed runner of some years but have never been a member of a running club as I always thought that was for the serious elite runners. I couldn’t have been more wrong! The club is so inclusive and encouraging of all levels. Progression and improvement is entirely your own choice so there is no pressure but support is always there from both leaders and other club members. And as an added bonus I now have lots of new Hero friends!
